Jimmy Page of the mighty Led Zeppelin is undoubtedly the master of rock riffs! I cut my rock n' roll guitar teeth on Led Zeppelin; especially Led Zeppelin I and Led Zeppelin II. Jimmy Page is one of our 2 rock legends this month for "Licks and Riffs of the Rockstars" series.

Jimmy began his career as a studio session musician in London. By the mid-1960s he was one of the most sought-after session guitarists in Britain. But he went for more - first with the Yardbirds and then, of course, with Led Zeppelin. It was with Zeppelin that he became a true rock guitar hero and influenced countless future guitarists. He may not have had Clapton's technique or tone, but whatever he lacked he more than made up for with his broad knowledge of music, sound production, and especially his ENERGY and stage presence.

Page is widely considered to be one of the greatest and most influential guitarists of all time.[7][8][9] Rolling Stone magazine has described Page as "the pontiff of power riffing" and ranked him number three in their list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time", behind Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. In 2010, he was ranked number two in Gibson's list of "Top 50 Guitarists of All Time". Fully deserved!
